Saturday late night what's up@ AP

It's been a crazy couple of weeks in the angry pirate universe. There has been a lot of great response to our artists. The Candy Stains just became available on iTunes and all other e-tailors. This Too Shall Burn has been charting, and airplay for both has been growing steadily all over. Feels like we are just on the verge of being part of the conversation so to speak...hahaha...if you're reading this and you book bands we would love to hear from you!

The new insubordination record sounds great, the songs are amazing. Just finished with the 1st set of mix notes so it's not long now until the album goes out to mastering.

Lets see what else can I remember off the top of my head, Independent Music Network loves us and we love them back. They have been very kind to angry pirate artists.

New shows announce this week. Oct 8th angry records label show here at home. Candy Stains go to nyc the weekend after and play NYC and Brooklyn 14/15th. will be killer time and were all going up. It will be good to come back home to nyc even if its just for a weekend.

New t2sb show being announced this week for Raleigh oct 21st I believe.

Ok its saturday night late and I am a looser so its bed. Exciting times. Ok this is the slow weekend. Seems like every weekend from now until I don't know when are booked up or getting there so I guess thats good.

More soon...promise!

The Angry Pirate Entertainment Group is pleased and proud to announce the recent signing of the Richmond based band INSUBORDINATION. We at Angry Pirate could not be happier to have this great young act joining up with label mates THIS TOO SHALL BURN and THE CANDY STAINS.

Scott, Dan and Bryan of INSUBORDINATION bring together the punk sensibilities of NOFX, The Ramones, The Dead Milkmen, and Husker DU, mixed up with their own brand of youthful angst and wry sense of humor. Bringing back to punk what has been taken away in more recent years as punk became more mainstream. Extremely catchy riffs thought provoking lyrics added in with some anthem style gang vocals, produces a great mix of songs that are sure to become PUNK ANTHEMS!

Pre production for their first full length album has already begun, and plans are being finalized for its recording. In the meantime you can find out all about them and hear a few songs at this link: http://angrypirateentertainment.com/insubordination .

You can also check out their social network:

Thursday and Friday this week THIS TOO SHALL BURN and INSUBORDINATION will be sharing the stage for two consecutive nights. Alley Katz in Richmond will host both bands Thursday the 13th of January, INSUBORDINATION headlining. The next night (Friday the 14th) THIS TOO SHALL BURN will headline at Longboards in Kill Devil Hills NC.

With the just recently released THIS TOO SHALL BURN album For The Gods gaining strong momentum we expect these shows to be high energy.

Once upon a time...

by Fisher on 08/09/10
Once upon a time, i was enamored with the whole idea of the music business and how could creativity and business survive, right brain vs left brain. long before that I knew that one day all i wanted to do was be in music, somehow some way. Did i need to be on the radio, did i have to express myself musically, could i guide the career and help create and collaborate with artists, and was this whole idea just to far from reach because all that time ago it all seemed so far from reach, , there was a huge wall between the performer and the fan, the same way they never handed out baseballs to the crowd, they were to valuable, how would i get there, and if i did what the hell would i do. Somehow i knew if i could get there or even close i would know exactly  what to do, it would somehow come naturally. how could it not, it was the only thing i ever want to do and i want to do it all somehow, I learned what i could on my own, i got myself in the middle of opportunities to be exposed to situations, i got educated college educated a degree and everything, i got on the radio, i went on the road, i saw the world, at least most of it, i watched em on the way up and if they were lucky enough on the way back down too, a few stayed on top, most disintegrated from inside there own bubble  when i sat back and watched long lines of people who were so sure that what they were doing was the one and only way to do it and that if you didn't do it that way then you would never get anywhere, they bought and sold each other, they lied behind their best friends back, and inevitable failed upward or just disappeared. and they did all this while i was in the room quietly observing as they made one bad decision in a long line of bad decisions with an occasional stroke of genius.

sometimes i feel like i have already lived 3 complete lives. maybe even 4. so if this is number 5 then so be it.

life number 5 is this whole project. angry pirate everything.

this is the inevitable culmination of everything... i suppose i got lucky along the way, but luck only comes if you create opportunities, so i guess i created some opportunities to get lucky and then one day all the opportunities pointed in the right direction...

so now while the whole music industry tries to figure out what to do when the reset button gets pushed, this ship of opportunities has a few passengers, these passengers, the angry pirates, me, Mikey, our bands, and all our supporters, we are just on the brink of what should be a wild ride.

i have a feeling that from time to time i will divulge some history along with comedy, but mostly i want to give an honest introspective into what we are doing and why.

why start an Indy label, why manage your acts, what makes you want to work with this or that artist and what is so special about that so you should pay attention to them when everyone else is cramming the next lump of shit down your throat. why not my lump of shit, there is no real reason these days.

its ambitious, its outside the lines and inside the door at the same time.

i think that we have something important going on here, i hope you do to, and if you don't then that's fine too, there is so much to choose from.

most of all its about the music, the moment when you can close your eyes and somehow all your senses can be aroused at the same time. that 1st time you break the seal on that record you saved months of nickels to buy, and the smell of the freshness, OK so now its all digital, but every now and then something comes along and I'm right back in it.

unlike most, my first real albums that were non kiddie, was XTC (drums and wires) and the 1st Specials album. there was always radio before that and everything that is now classic classic rock, that was even getting tired then, but only to be re discovered years later for what it really meant and why...

it has always been about the music, and it always will be. there is no compromise. when its right you know it immediately, and you want everyone everywhere to hear and feel what you do because for that one moment it is pure, it is everything.

these are lofty goals, somehow it is all obtainable... and until the reset gets pushed we'll be here keeping it true, pure, and everything!
